The knowledge-based company Asa Daru Poyesh has succeeded in meeting the needs of patients and therapists by producing a third-generation hemostatic product, which is a biopolymer. The company has been located in the Isfahan Science and Research City since 2019.
According to the Isfahan Science and Research City Public Relations, medical products and equipment are of great importance due to their therapeutic role and saving human lives. For this reason, many knowledge-based and technological companies have turned to the design and production of these products. The knowledge-based company Asa Daru Poyesh, which has been located in the Isfahan Science and Research City since 2019, specializes in the production of advanced biological products with an approach to developing pharmaceutical and medical products.
Masoud Shahrestani, CEO of this knowledge-based company, stated in this regard: “Given the importance of domestic production of health products, we designed and produced a solution that cleans, disinfects, and removes wound precursors and biofilms, which acts as a disinfectant before and after dressing. In other words, this product prepares the wound bed and environment for receiving primary or secondary dressings and is considered a complement to the treatment process.”
He continued: “This product has a slow-release property and the duration of its antibacterial effect has increased compared to other products on the market. In fact, this product maintains its antibacterial properties on the wound for a longer period of time, and therefore, the wound remains clean for a longer period of time during the dressing period.”
The CEO of Asa Daru Poyesh Company stated: “Usually, disinfectant solutions lose their properties after a few minutes, but this product is able to maintain its antibacterial properties for up to 24 hours between dressing changes. This property is slowly released over time and due to the silver particles used in the solution.”
In another part of his speech, Shahrestani said: “In order to make life easier for people in need of health care and to fulfill the slogan “Comfort made easy,” this company has also produced a hemostatic product that is used after debridement, surgery, angiography, dialysis, and wherever a person has suffered from bleeding. This product can be used even in emergency cases due to its effect on stopping bleeding faster.”
He added: “One of the distinguishing features of this product is its use for patients with blood thinning. Based on tests conducted, this hemostatic product stops bleeding permanently within 30 seconds with pressure.”
The CEO of Asa Daru Poyish Company, referring to the absorbable hemostatic properties of this product and the fact that it does not cause pain and temperature at the site of use, added: The first generation of this product model was made based on natural minerals that caused pain and temperature when used.
Shahrestani stated: The second generation of these products was based on cellulose, which reduced the amount of pain and temperature, but they were non-absorbable, and their use is considered a risk in sensitive surgical procedures where there is a concern about the complete removal of the hemostatic agent.
The CEO of Asa Daru Poyish Company continued: The third generation of hemostatic agents, which also includes this company’s product, are biopolymers. This group of products is absorbable and is absorbed and excreted within five to seven days of use, so there is no concern if their residues remain in the body.
Shahrestani stated that the price of this product is about one-third of the price of its imported counterpart and continued: The country needs about 15,000 units of these products annually. Considering the activity of Asa Daru in this field, it is expected that we will be able to meet about one-third to one-fifth of the country’s needs in the initial period of activity.
It is worth noting that the Isfahan Science and Research City has so far played a role as an intermediary between the government, industry and universities in the direction of knowledge-based economic development and ultimately transforming science into wealth in the country. Currently, about 700 knowledge-based and technological units are located in the Isfahan Science and Research City.
